Dr. Jon Mandrell, Vice President of Academics and Student Services, discussed how SVCC has always been an integral part of his life. From being a toddler at Sauk’s daycare while his mom took classes, to meeting his now wife his freshman year of classes, and a long career that spans from teaching criminal justice to working in administration. He emphasized to the students that they have no idea what’s going on now in their life that will shape who you they in the future.

We will see Jon again in the future, where he will spend several days in December working with students about how to have crucial conversations and the difference between one’s natural language and professional language. But he left them with many words of wisdom, and this one seemed to stick out in their journals:

“The ultimate level of professionalism is how you treat people who are different than you.”
