United Way of Whiteside County Executive Director Keri Olson hosted the West CEO Class on Monday morning. She started the morning with a creative activity challenging students to draw a picture of their favorite nonprofit. (While balancing the paper and pen on their head!) This fun activity helped recognize and realize their importance. Students learned about the 23 agencies supported by United Way, which includes the CEO program. Lastly, Keri had small teams source everything that is needed to create a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, simulating Let's Feed the Children, a massive local Impact Program. This activity illustrated the need to get funding, buy product, follow food regulations, delivery, proper verbiage and interaction with supporters, and thank you notes. Everything went smoothly and the sandwich was delicious!
