It's always a great day when the room is a-buzz with extra people. Wednesday's class was a study of the multi-generational workforce with the Great Generation, today 80+ years, Baby Boomers 61-79, Gen X 45-61, Gen Y 30-44, and Gen Z 15-30. Members of the East and West CEO classes and the Sauk Valley Community Leadership program joined forces for a discussion on the economic/social events of the time that influenced each generation. Some good ways to manage workforce differences is to avoid generational biases, encourage feedback, create opportunities for cross-generational mentoring, have an awareness of stages of life, and as always, create relationships!
