Andy McFarlane, CEO of Dixon’s YMCA wears many hats, and can also probably do a magic trick with one too.

East students were able to choose 3 cards with photos that they felt either had good representation or poor representation in their communities. It allowed them an opportunity to reflect on what is in their own municipality vs where they have to travel to do something.

Andy also emphasized the “for all” aspect in the Y’s mission and made it clear that they accept anyone in their nonprofit organization, regardless of demographics and embrace diversity. One of the things he loves witnessing most is seeing two completely different walks of life bonding over commonalities and having a great workout.

There was time at the end for Andy to show off some magic tricks, which the students reported back was the coolest part, as they truly couldn’t figure out how he did some of the things he did.
