Dr Linda Hellmich is a retired clinical psychologist who spent a majority of her career working with college students at academic institutions throughout the US. She spent the morning talking with CEO students about things to think about no about before transitioning to college. She challenged students to question why a certain college on their list is the right choice: Is it safety, proximity from home, financially responsible, campus size/life, athletics? She also discussed the importance of preparing to live independently, which included learning how to appropriately manage money, knowing how to cook and clean, time management, and practicing good self care. A lot of great discussion was had about learning how to effectively talk to roommates, as well as your parents, once being in college. And being aware of your surroundings and traveling in pairs when possible. It was a great day for the East and West class to both meet up!
